La Pescadora Fly Fishing Lodge Trip Report – 11/12-11/19:
“After a successful week of fishing with our first group of anglers at La Pescadora Fly Fishing Lodge, I was excited at the prospects of even better weather and conditions for the incoming group. The incoming group consisted of five WorldCast Anglers employees and friend:
Andy Asadorian – WCA Retail manager
Kevin Emery – WCA Guide
Ben Rogers – WCA Guide
George Woodward – WCA Guide
Will Ezell – WCA Guide
Haden Masterson – 2016 WCA Outfitting Managers
Cody Barber – Snake River Angler guide/good friend of WCA
As far as the fishing was concerned, I figured that if we had good sun and the wind stayed consistent that this group would have some opportunities. The forecast called for ideal conditions for the first three days, and then a change in the winds the final three days and clouds.
After a long season, it was a rare opportunity for all of us to get together, relax, and be anglers not guides. All of these guys had fished in salt water, except one, but only two of them had landed permit before. One of the great things about hosted trips is being a part of the group. Although all of us work together, you never know how the group will mesh together. I could tell right after their van ride that this was going to be a tight knit group. They all had proper expectations, were ready for all conditions, and were collectively excited to be together and going fishing. From the moment they arrived, La Pescadora Fly Fishing Lodge was perfect. Everyone loved the lodge amenities, lay out, and Pepe, the bartender. This group seemed to be in great spirits, and ready to land some fish.
The forecast held true, and we had great conditions for the first three days, and then more difficult conditions the final three days. Everybody seized the opportunities afforded by the favorable light and weather, and each angler landed a permit on the first day. By the end of the trip, the group had landed 25 Permit, and recorded several slams.”
