Every season, new fly fishing gear and tackle floods fly shops and the online world hoping to grasp the attention of anglers and customers. We pick some of our favorites from the WorldCast Anglers Fly Shop, put it in the hands our guides and have them test and try them out. Check out Will Ezell’s experience with the Loon Rogue Nippers and Forceps!
“The Loon Rogue nippers, scissor forceps, and quickdraw forceps are some of the best that are out on the market. They are lightweight, durable, and they have stood up to the abuse of a guide season. The nippers do there job well and have stayed sharp through many tangles. They cut through thick tippet and leader with ease. They fit easily on the carabiner finger loop of the quickdraw forceps for easy access to everything you need while fishing. All in all the nippers are a great product and will hold up through those tangle filled windy days.
The scissor forceps have been a great addition to the fishing arsenal. They have a very comfy grip and the scissor portion of the tool has been a big help when you have high leader tangle and need to cut through thick leader. The long neck also helps when you are late on the set and the hook gets buried deep in the fishes mouth. The long neck makes it easy to get that hook out from deep in a mouth (even when it is a whitefish). The versatility of the scissor forceps are unrivaled on the water.
The quickdraw forceps are my favorite of the group. The carabiner attachment on these forceps gives it a distinct advantage on other forceps on the market. Being able to have nipper attached to the forceps has been great. The locking grip allows you to clip them on to your shirt for easy access. The scissors on the forceps are a great addition as well. The set of all three of these together will give you the tools you need to have a successful day on the water.”
