Lyons Brown was born and raised in the small ski town of Telluride, Colorado where he spent his childhood fishing the Gunnison, Dolores, Uncompahgre and San Miguel rivers with his dad. His passion for ski racing led him to New England for high school before making his way to the University of Virginia where he was accepted into the Global Studies program and focused on Sustainability and the Environments. After completing the Western Rivers Guide School, Lyons worked his way up to guide through time on the WCA shop staff team and as camp cook at the Cottonwood camp. His time spent in Teton Valley helped him become familiar with the Greater Yellowstone/Teton ecosystem. His passion for conservation gives Lyons a respectful and educated approach to guiding and the places he surrounds himself in. Lyons is a patient and kind guide, ready to spend a fun day with angler’s of any skill level. When he is not on the river, you can find him enjoying a round of golf, a steep ski trail, a good band or seeking the next saltwater fly fishing adventure.
