South Fork Fishing Report – (12.23.21)
Flows have dropped to around 900 cfs. Expect those flows for the winter season. With the flows being low and cold, anglers should look for shorter floats on the water. Most boat ramps are still open and operational as we have very little snow in Swan Valley. Look for the Dam, Husky, Spring Creek Bridge, Conant, Wolf and Byington to provide the best floats until snow piles up. Midges are going to be your main hatch for the winter season. Look for fish in slower water types like eddies, recirculations and deeper holes and runs. Don’t be surprised to see a couple fish eating midges on top if the conditions are right. Streamers worked low and slow can produce some surprises.
